Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you, all my interests and desires. Oh, Saint Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me, from your Divine Son, all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of fathers. Oh, Saint Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach, while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name, and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. Saint Joseph, Patron of Departing Souls, pray for us. |
I've been saying it daily for several years now.
This prayer was found in the fiftieth year of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In the 1500's it was sent by the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle.Whoever reads this prayer or hears it or carries it, will never die a sudden death, nor be drowned, nor will poison take effect on them. They will not fall into the hands of the enemy nor be burned in any fire, nor will they be defeated in battle.
Make this prayer known everywhere...
Imprimatur

As I mentioned above, I've been saying this prayer daily, for years. One reason is because I memorized it, and the second is because it's just so beautiful. When I began saying the prayer, I never bothered to read how the prayer came about, or the promises made to those who recite, hear, or carry the prayer about themselves. I just kept saying the prayer...faithfully.
One evening as I was preparing dinner, I turned my oven on to 200 degrees, to keep some things warm while I continued to cook. I opened the oven door, just as the pilot ignited the burner, and a huge wall of flames exploded out of the oven, not only engulfing me, but also singeing the ceiling, as I later discovered. I must have screamed, because everyone came running in, and as I sat at my kitchen table with my hands covering my face, my husband noticed that my engagement ring had sprung. The gold solder holding the setting to the band had actually sprung wide open, luckily the diamond was still intact, and my wedding band was not affected, in fact, I was not burned at all. Not a hair on my head was singed, not a trace of scorch, or smell of burning hair. Nothing...Praise the Lord!
The next day, I took my ring to the jeweler to get repaired. The lady at the desk took the ring in the back for the jeweler's appraisal. He came out to where I was standing, and asked how this had happened. I told him the story, and he said that it had to be an extremely high heat to melt the solder holding the setting in place, I think he said it was platinum. He wanted to know how I wasn't burned in the process, because of the intense heat and molten solder. I told him that it was a miracle... Several days later, my mother called me, saying she'd just read in our little prayer book, "Pieta", the promises to all who say, hear, or carry the St. Joseph Prayer...as above..."whoever reads this prayer or hears it or carries it, will never die a sudden death, nor be drowned, nor will poison take effect on them. They will not fall into the hands of the enemy nor be burned in any fire, nor will they be defeated in battle..." |
There was my answer... This truly was a miracle, and saying this prayer is definitely a good thing... Oh, and by the way, the oven thermostat was faulty. I definitely had angels around me that day... |
